CBC's Missions Through the Years

The history of CBC’s missions is a testimony of a heart committed to spreading the gospel. We pray that CBC will continue to embody God’s faithfulness and actively fulfill its role in His Great Commission.

  • by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ preaching the Gospel in close proximity as well as at distant (cross-cultural mission). Go, and make disciples of all nations for His great commission, and glorifying God. God is the God of Mission; the Bible is the Scripture of Mission; the Gospel is the Message of Mission; the Church is the Body of the Mission; with the Grace of God, Coronation commenced the divine Mission of God…

  • By the grace of the Lord, Coronation Baptist Church can accomplish the Great Commission by building and equipping servants of God, serving and preaching the gospel to those who have not heard of the Lord’s name, training believers, building and equipping the church to complete the Great Commission, so as to glorify God.

  • The Church also looks forward to have every member’s commitment to become life-influencing missionaries in making disciples; involved in prayer, short mission trips, serving, offering, and full-time service.

We can commence a mission at any time regardless of the size of congregations, the presence of missionaries, or sufficient mission funds.

Henceforth,  Coronation will continue putting up the best in fulfilling the divine Mission of God.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.(Matt. 28:19-20)

But you will have power, when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judaea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

Early Years: Planting the Seeds (1994-1999)

CBC’s missions began with prayer and a clear vision. In 1994, the church formally established an Overseas Mission Committee and designated October as Mission Month, emphasizing the themes of "Mission and Vision." By 1996, CBC initiated its first faith offering during Mission Month, exceeding the goal of S$6,000 by collecting S$12,464—an abundant testimony of God’s grace and faithful provision.

The late 1990s marked pivotal moments, including the church’s first short-term mission to Vietnam in 1995 and subsequent trips to Myanmar, Indonesia, and East Asia. By 1999, CBC had adopted and supported its first ethnic minority ministry—Myitkyina Lhaovo Bible Seminary in Myanmar, pledging to support the seminary’s staff, students, and infrastructure. This set a foundation for CBC’s long-term commitment to overseas missions.

2000-2009: Expanding the Mission Frontiers

The turn of the millennium brought a new phase of growth. CBC began incorporating mission funds into its annual budget to address evolving mission needs. Significant milestones included sending the church’s first missionary family to East Asia in 2008 and initiating support for the “Back to Jerusalem” mission movement.

In Myanmar, CBC deepened its partnership with theological institutions and missionaries, establishing Myitkyina Lhaovo Bible Seminary as a key focus. CBC also engaged in outreach ministries with East Asian communities, fostering relationships and building a foundation for discipleship.

2010-2020: Strengthening Partnerships and Expanding Impact

As CBC celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2010, the church reflected on two decades of missions while embracing new challenges. Annual Mission Months continued to raise awareness and funds, supporting diverse initiatives like Myanmar Christian Preachers Training College (MCPTC) and missions in Indonesia and the Middle East.

Notably, CBC’s collaboration with the “House of Love Ministry” in Middle East grew significantly, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2020 to 2021, the church increased financial support and intercession for ministries in Myanmar and Middle East, demonstrating God’s grace and the church’s obedience amid global challenges.

2021-2025: Missionaries and Discipleship

CBC’s missions in the post-pandemic era focus on equipping and sending missionaries while maintaining steadfast support for ongoing ministries. In August 2020, CBC’s first missionary couple embarked on further theological training in the United States.

Locally, CBC continues to foster fellowship among diverse communities, including the Geylang-based Canaan Fellowship and the Young Adults Ministry, with the aim of reaching East Asians in Singapore.

2025-2030: Missions Goal

Whole Gospel, Whole Church, Whole World (The Lausanne Movement)

The whole gospel is for all people—for those who are sick, hungry, in need of deliverance, spiritually empty, or lacking in knowledge. Through our words and acts of service, we are committed to proclaiming the complete gospel of Jesus Christ, bringing transformation to the world.

The ultimate goal is to proclaim the gospel! And this must be the foundation.

Vision and Aspiration: God’s mission, and the church’s missionary work, should not remain confined to Missions Month or a missions committee. Rather, it must be integrated into every aspect of the church and into the life and walk of every disciple of Christ. This mission is a Christ-centered way of living out the command to “Go and make disciples of all nations,” so that every member of CBC may devote their life to the Lord, faithfully fulfilling the mission entrusted to the church.

2025 Theme: “Every Disciple a Disciple Maker – Disciple-Oriented Mission”

The goal is to encourage brothers and sisters to see that their lives are closely connected and inseparably linked to the mission of the Lord Jesus. This is the essence of a Disciple-Oriented Mission: a disciple-oriented life is the foundation and source of everything. Without this foundation, the mission goals of God’s church cannot be fulfilled—not only in overseas missions, but in every aspect of the church’s work.
